Why Voting Matters

OCCORD’s Deputy Director, Marisol Ramirez
OCCOED GOTV efforts showing door to door canvassing efforts

For over two decades, OCCORD has built the power of working-class communities, immigrants, and historically marginalized residents in Orange County.

Through citizenship support, voter registration, and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) organizing, we help our communities turn their voices into votes โ€” and their votes into policy change.

From helping residents become U.S. citizens to automatically registering new citizens to vote, OCCORD ensures that civic participation is not a privilege โ€” it is a right.

When we vote, we shape:

Our schools
Our housing policies
Our wages
Our democracy

Voting is not just participation โ€” it is power.

Voting 101

Before Election Day, take one minute to make sure your voter registration is up to date.

Ask yourself:

โœ” Did you move recently?
โœ” Did you change your name or update personal information?
โœ” Is your current address listed correctly so your ballot arrives on time?
โœ” Do you want to update your party preference?

Even small changes can affect where or how you vote. Checking your registration only takes a minute.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Verify your voter information through the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
